Accounting in Reality (AIR) Conference
Upcoming on March 2-6, 2027
Accounting in Reality (AIR) is RCAS’s flagship tri-campus conference, designed to bridge the gap between academic theory and the professional accounting industry. Spanning one week, this event brings together top students from all three University of Toronto campuses to tackle a real-world case, develop core professional competencies, and network with industry professionals.
KICKOFF EVENT
case writing & industry deep dive
AIR begins with an interactive case-writing workshop led by a Rotman Commerce professor, where students learn tips and strategies, and analyze a practice case. Following the workshop, the official case partner introduces the competition’s case. Students have the opportunity to engage directly with the case partner’s representatives, asking targeted industry questions to uncover the real-world dynamics governing the case.

PRESENTATION COACHING WORKSHOP
with CPA Ontario
In mid-week preparation for the symposium, students participate in a presentation skills workshop, delivered by a CPA Ontario representative, aimed at teaching them how to effectively present a case solution. This session features interactive public speaking exercises and actionable strategies focused on body language, slide design, Q&A handling, and timing. Students can leverage this platform to refine their delivery, address presentation anxieties, and optimize their performance before competition day.
ACCOUNTING SYMPOSIUM
case presentations & networking
The conference concludes with the flagship Symposium day, where teams pitch their case solutions to a panel of judges consisting of Big 4 and case partner representatives. In the afternoon, the Big 4 firms host workshops to educate students about their upcoming recruitment opportunities and explain how candidates can stand out. Following the finalists’ presentations and judges’ deliberation, the event wraps up with a firm-centered networking session. The symposium provides students with the opportunity to showcase the skills they developed throughout the week to Big 4 firm representatives, while building their networks.
